Laurina Bragdon Enjoys Traveling to Florence

By Loren Timothy at 2013-05-17 03:10:21
Laurina Bragdon passionately follows her hobby of traveling and Florence is one of her favorite destinations. It is home to many attractions such as Italy's best museums, beautiful cathedrals and churches. The interesting streets, shops and elegant buildings attract travelers from around the world. The most popular sites in Florence include the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Uffizi, the Bargello, and the Accademia. Uffizi is one of the greatest museums of the world and houses the premier collection of Italian Renaissance art and features works by such masters as Botticelli, Titian, Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci. It is a must-visit museum for all travelers, especially art lovers. Visitors to the Uffizi may also visit the famous Vasari Corridor, a hidden walkway built in 1564 for the Medici family. It connects Palazza Vecchio and the Uffizi to the Pitti Palace on the other side of the Arno. Laurina Bragdon makes sure to set aside time to visit the vast and varied collection housed in the Pitti Palace. She says that spending a day at the Boboli Gardens or climbing the hill to the church of San Miniato al Monte offers an enchanting view of Florence.

Florence's most famous square is Piazza Della Signoria, the heart of the historic center. It hosts the finest collection of outdoor statues in the world including the famous copy of Michelangelo's David, Hercules and Cacus and the gorgeous Fountain of Neptune. The piazza has been Florence's political center since the middle ages and contains elaborately decorated public rooms and private apartments. The very impressive Loggia dei Lanzi is an outdoor museum where one will find an outstanding collection of statues such as Ercole and Centaur, and Perseus, amongst others. Many come to visit Piazza Della Signoria, to explore world class museums on or near this square and for the trove of classic statues and beautifully decorated buildings surrounding the square.
